About Northrift Radio


NORTH RIFT RADIO FM is the brainchild of KIYAKO Limited which is based in Kapenguria in West Pokot County, North Rift region of Kenya since its inception in 2009. Its main goal is to ensure that the residents of the Rift Valley and Western parts of Kenya get the perspective of information which empowers them to make informed choices in their everyday lives. Our activities include audio documentaries and consultancy services on current issues that affect the communities. North rift radio is the fastest growing radio station in the North rift region with a strong focus on local programming,Fighting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Promoting Peace amongst Pastarol Communities in North Rift Region and covering all other socio ­-economic grouping, speaking to all ages and all genders.Our major target is the Marginalised communities with Limited access to Newspapers,Television and other forms of media due to marginalisation.

The station offers a unique and rich menu of news, features, talk shows, sports and a distinct selection of the finest Local African tunes. Some of the top ranking shows include Kumekucha, Taradadi, Interact, Darizi, Urejesho, and Wakati Na Mungu amongst several others. Through various activations, the station has attracted large numbers; this is a great show of loyalty and patriotism.

MISSION: To empower listeners by providing them a forum to share what they know in Social development, Governance, Economic development and Spiritual development of humanity with the intention of promoting National cohesion and integration from the County levels.


NORTH RIFT Radio is based at the heart of Kapenguria town which, though cosmopolitan and dynamic is largely populated by the Pokots and Turkanas who are pastoralist communities. The radio station seeks to become a positive game changer in the lives of the pastoralist communities who are often embroiled in cattle clashes.


NORTH RIFT Radio management is projecting to extend its coverage to all parts of the country and to migrate fully to digital broadcasting as per the Kenyan timelines.
